Fishing

The choice is yours. Whether you desire a day or two, or even a week, in pursuit of blue, striped, and black marlin, sailfish, swordfish, tuna, or wahoo aboard a cabin cruiser; searching for iridescent dorado (mahi-mahi) beneath kelp paddies from an outboard-powered panga; or if you prefer to skip the boat altogether and cast for exotic roosterfish right from our beach, we offer it all.

Back in 1940, author John Steinbeck referred to the Sea of Cortez as the “World’s Greatest Fish Trap,” and not much has changed since then. We proudly boast the largest fleet of 28- to 32-foot big game Cabin Cruisers, along with 23-foot Super Pangas—all of them expertly designed to catch fish. It’s no surprise that Buena Vista Resort has been the host of the prestigious Multi-Million Dollar Bisbee East Cape Tournament since 1998.

Regarding the enchantment of beach fishing for roosterfish, you can refer to this article from The New York Times: When the Roosterfish Are Running, So Are the Fishermen.

Depending on your choice of cruiser, panga, or beach fishing, and whether you prefer a saltwater fly rod or conventional tackle, as well as the time of year, at Buena Vista Resort, you have the opportunity to catch a wide variety of species including Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Pompano, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado (Mahi-Mahi), Skipjack, Pargo, Roosterfish, and more.

Our boats are equipped with top-notch rods, reels, lures, and other gear. However, it is our experienced captains, our skilled skippers, who truly make the difference. They are the reason our clients have achieved victory or high rankings in the Bisbee and other tournaments. Simply put, our captains love catching fish!

If you have a specific fish on your “must-catch” bucket list, we encourage you to discuss it with our staff via the Internet prior to your visit.
