Hiking is a rewarding way to explore and connect with the local mountain ranges. It’s an all-year game that will make you part of nature itself; the walks are moderate, due to the rocks that must be climbed and the weather conditions that increase with the elevation.
More than being physically challenging, hiking our mountains is thought by many as being spiritual. See El Cañón de la Zorra, a desert spot with large granite rocks which form a freshwater pool, to swim and cool off. It sounds strange “lots of water in the middle of the desert” . . . but once you’ve seen it, it will cease to be strange.
Another great attraction is to visit La Sierra de la Laguna, a place that long ago was an island, and now provides us beautiful biodiversity, which makes it be named by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve. You can also visit Miraflores and Santiago, where you will find streams, waterfalls and hot springs.
